INSPIRATION
BRIEF
Create a single injection molded shoe for the city athlete that starts in the city, continues to the outdoors, into the water, and ends at the campsite.

RE-DESIGN
The design of the shoe was deemed to look too much like the competition so a redesign was decided on in order to make the shoe look more unique.
Using AI images provided from the footwear designer, 3 concepts were made based off of the silhouette of the original water shoe.

X-3415 Last
After solidifying Concept 3 as the final design, the last was changed from X-3415 to X-3788H. Even with the change in lasts, the proportions of the shoe had to be the same and the 3D model had to reflect that.

WALL THICKNESS
With the design finalized, wall thickness was a major factor in dialing everything in. 3 to 4mm had to be maintained throughout the shoe without changing the shape which proved to be a challenge.

Geometry Nodes in Blender was used to generate gecko pad inspired outsole patterns that influenced the final design of the outsole.
