PROBLEM SOLVING
Creating Overlapping Scales

Before arriving at the final design, the graphic designer requested for the scales on the toe-tip and foxing to overlap each other with undercuts. The problem I faced was:
How can scales with undercuts be created using displacement maps that don't have that "overlapping" information?
THE SOLUTION: SCULPT MASKING

EXTRUDE
In order to create overlapping scales with the most control, I decided to work on flat panels by using Blender's Textools Addon.
VIRTUAL MATERIALS
Blender With Substance 3D

Blender and the Substance 3D Addon for Blender was used to create the materials for the shoe. Materials were pulled straight from the Substance Library.

HELPING A TEAMMATE
Procedural Snake Lattice Body
The sister Kobe shoe my coworker was working on required a lattice snake body that wrapped around an AF1. The problem the team faced was:
How can we create an easily adjustable and arrayable snake body using a tile that my coworker created?
THE SOLUTION: CURVE MODIFIERS
